Polygraph Testing
Posted Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at 5:40 PM

I had a few questions about the polygraph testing. Are more people eliminated for lying or for simply owning up to all of their wrong doings? Now, i haven't made it that far in the testing process, and I wasn't planning on lying, but I'm nervous about telling all my truths. Is it better to put it all out there?

Thanks in advance

Hey,
I took my polygraph in January and while I'm no expert obviously, my background detective made it very clear that I was expected to tell the truth. I think that LVMPD knows that we all have made mistakes. We've all had our childish transgressions and done stupid things, but as adults, we need to take responsibility for them. How can you expect to be a police officer if your integrity is called into question? It sucks, having to go back over all the things you've done wrong in your youth, but for the job it's better to tell the truth.
